In God We Trust – Not in Scalia

In God We Trust.  How and when did those four words gain prominence in the United States of America?  You may be surprised to learn the following from the U.S. Treasury:

The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War.

I point out that it does NOT say, “We Are A Christian Nation.”  NOR does it say “We Are a Muslim Nation.”  And I will add, that it does NOT say “We Are a Hindu Nation.”

And if you read the U.S. Constitution, it is clear that the Founders not only outlined a clear separation between  Church and State, but they certainly did NOT favor one religion over another.  I defy anyone to prove otherwise.

So what the hell is so-called “Justice” Scalia defending the cross for?  The cross is a Christian symbol.  Last I looked it was not a Muslim nor a Hindu symbol.

The cross should be torn down and replaced with an appropriate symbol.
